വിദേശയാത്ര അനുമതി തേടിയുള്ള ഹർജിയിൽ മുൻ ഡിജിപി ടോമിൻ ജെ തച്ചങ്കരിയെ വീണ്ടും വിമർശിച്ച് ഹൈക്കോടതി. ഒരു ദിവസം പോലും ജയിലിൽ കിടന്നിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ എന്നാണ് കോടതി ചോദിച്ചത്. ഗുരുതര രോഗമെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോർട്ട്. ഈ രോഗവുമായി ഏങ്ങനെ വിദേശത്ത് ജോലിക്ക് പോകുമെന്നും കോടതിയിൽ നിന്ന് ചോദ്യം ഉയർന്നു.

കള്ളം പറഞ്ഞാൽ ജാമ്യവും റദ്ദാക്കുമെന്ന മുന്നറിയിപ്പും കോടതി നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. വ്യാഴാഴ്ച കേസ് വീണ്ടു പരിഗണിക്കാമെന്ന് കോടതി. ജാമ്യ വ്യവസ്ഥയിൽ ഇളവ് തേടിയുള്ള ടോമിൻ ജെ തച്ചങ്കരിയുടെ ഹര്‍ജിയിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസവും ഹൈക്കോടതി കടുത്ത വിമര്‍ശനമാണ് ഉന്നയിച്ചത്.

ശിക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടതിന് ശേഷം അസുഖമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് ആശുപത്രിയിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞ ആൾ എങ്ങനെ വിദേശ ജോലിക്ക് പോകുമെന്ന് കോടതി ചോദിച്ചു. 'ജയിലിൽ പോകുമ്പോൾ അസുഖം വരും, പുറത്ത് ഇറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ വിദേശത്ത് പോയി ജോലി ചെയ്യണം' കോടതിയുള്ളവർക്കും ബുദ്ധി ഉണ്ടെന്ന് തച്ചങ്കരി ഓർക്കണമെന്നായിരുന്നു ജസ്റ്റിസ്‌ എ ബദറുദ്ദീന്‍റെ വിമര്‍ശനം.

2003 മുതല്‍ 2007 വരെയുള്ള കാലത്ത് ഔദ്യോഗിക പദവിയിലിരിക്കെ അനധികൃത സ്വത്ത് സമ്പാദിച്ചു എന്ന കേസിലായിരുന്നു വിജിലന്‍സ് കോടതി കഴിഞ്ഞ സെപ്തംബര്‍ 17നാണ് മുന്‍ ഡിജിപി ടോമിന്‍ ജെ തച്ചങ്കരിയെ ശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് വിധിച്ചത്. നാല് വർഷം കഠിന തടവും 30.84 ലക്ഷം രൂപ പിഴയുമാണ് കോട്ടയം വിജിലൻസ് കോടതി വിധിച്ചത്. പിന്നീട് ഒക്ടോബര്‍ 15 ന് ഹൈക്കോടതി ശിക്ഷ മരവിപ്പിച്ച് തച്ചങ്കരിക്ക് ജാമ്യം അനുവദിച്ചിരുന്നു.
