സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് കഴിഞ്ഞ 15 വർഷത്തിനിടെ കള്ളുചെത്തു തൊഴിലാളികളുടെ എണ്ണം 25,000ൽനിന്ന് 5,000 ആയി കുറഞ്ഞതായാണ് കണക്ക്. കള്ളുത്പാദനം കൂടുതലുള്ള പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിലെ ചിറ്റൂർ മേഖലയിലും തൊഴിലാളിക്ഷാമം രൂക്ഷമാണ്.

പുതിയ തലമുറയെ ഈ തൊഴിൽ മേഖലയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുവരാനും നിലവിലുള്ള തൊഴിലാളിക്ഷാമം കുറയ്ക്കാനും പരിശീലന പദ്ധതി സഹായിക്കുമെന്നാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷ. പരമ്പരാഗത തൊഴിൽരംഗത്ത് പുതിയ തൊഴിലാളികളെ സജ്ജമാക്കുന്നതിനൊപ്പം ഉത്പാദനരീതികളിൽ സുരക്ഷയും ഗുണനിലവാരവും ഉറപ്പാക്കാനും പദ്ധതി ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നു.

Number of workers decreased in 15 years. In last 15 years, number of toddy tappers in state has decreased from 25,000 to 5,000. Labour shortage is severe in Chittoor region of Palakkad district where toddy production is high. It is expected that training project will help bring new generation into this profession and reduce existing labour shortage
