ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് വീട്ടിലെ സ്വീകരണമുറിയിലിരുന്ന് ടി.വി. കാണുന്നതിനിടെ എഴുപതുകാരിയുടെ സ്വർണമാല തട്ടിപ്പറിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിച്ച മറുനാടൻ യുവാവ് പിടിയിൽ. വെസ്റ്റ് ബംഗാൾ സ്വദേശി രൺദീപ് സർക്കാരിനെയാണ് (28) ന്യൂമാഹി പോലീസ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തത്.

കോപ്പാലത്തെ 'ദേവീകൃപ'യിൽ ജാനുവിൻ്റെ മാല മോഷ്ടിക്കാനാണ് ശ്രമം നടന്നത്. യുവാവ് കഴുത്തിൽ പിടിച്ച ഉടനെ ജാനു ബഹളം വെച്ചതോടെ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവരും അയൽവാസികളും ഓടിയെത്തി ഇയാളെ പിടികൂടി ന്യൂമാഹി പോലീസിൽ വിവരമറിയിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് ഒന്നരയ്ക്കാണ് സംഭവം.
